February direction: fewer manual steps, more traceability

The month was not about building one large new system. It was about reducing manual handling in many small places while making sources, responsibilities and rules more visible.

Situation

Governance processes rarely have one large bug that fixes everything once removed. Instead, uncertainty accumulates through small things: copied data, an old macro, a forgotten rule, a folder owned by one person or an undocumented export. February focused on removing the most dangerous of those weak points.

Approach

For each improvement, I used the same questions: where does the data originate, how many manual steps does it pass through, where can it change, and how can the result be verified? When a small script was the right answer, we used one; when ownership or process clarity was the real fix, we did not force technology into the problem.

Outcome

By the end of the month, several processes looked less dramatic but were far more stable. There were fewer 'where did this value come from?' questions, and handing a task to someone new became easier. Technical and governance thinking moved closer together.
